Our Treatments
Have A Spar offers the full range of lash and brow treatments — from a lash lift that takes 45 minutes and lasts two months, to a complete set of volume extensions, to semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo that eliminates the need for brow makeup entirely. Every treatment is performed by experienced beauty therapists who specialise in this work, not therapists who do massage and also occasionally do lashes.
Lashes Lifts & Extensions
Lash extensions are individual synthetic lashes bonded to your natural lashes one at a time. The result is more volume, more length and more definition than a lash lift — and the specific look depends entirely on which style you choose.
Eyebrow Lift & Tattooing
The right treatment if your brows are naturally full but unruly, or if you want a more defined shape without semi-permanent colour.
Frequently asked questions
How much do lash extensions cost in Koh Samui?
At Have A Spar, lash extensions start at 800 THB for Classic and go up to 1,500 THB for Volume. Wet Look is 1,000 THB, Cat Eye and Dolly Eye are both 1,200 THB. Lash lift is 600 THB. Lash removal is 400 THB. Eyebrow lift is 500 THB, eyebrow tattoo light is 1,500 THB, and eyebrow tattoo full is 2,500 THB.
Those prices reflect the full treatment — there are no hidden costs, no product surcharges, no tip expectations built into the pricing. What’s listed is what you pay. For context, the same treatments at salons in Bangkok or major tourist destinations in Europe typically run two to three times higher for equivalent work. The price difference isn’t because the quality is lower — it’s because the cost of operating a beauty business in Lamai Beach is lower than in those markets, and that saving is passed through directly to the client.
If you’re planning a trip and budgeting for lash or brow treatments as part of it, the honest recommendation is to book the treatment you actually want rather than the cheapest option. The difference between Classic and Volume is 700 THB. The difference in how your eyes look for the next four weeks is significant. Book the treatment that gives you the result you came for.
What is a lash lift and how long does it last?
A lash lift is a semi-permanent treatment that curls and lifts your natural lashes from the root using a chemical setting solution — similar in principle to a hair perm, applied specifically to the lashes. The result is lashes that are visibly lifted, curled and more open-looking from the moment you leave, with no extensions, no mascara and no daily maintenance required to maintain the effect.
The lift typically lasts six to eight weeks. That duration is driven by the natural lash growth cycle — new lashes grow in straight, the lifted ones gradually grow out, and after six to eight weeks the overall effect has softened enough that most clients rebook. A single treatment at the start of a holiday comfortably covers the entire trip and several weeks beyond it.
The aftercare requirements are minimal: keep lashes dry for 24 hours after the treatment, avoid oil-based products around the eye area, and don’t rub or sleep face-down in the first day or two while the lift sets fully. After that there’s nothing to maintain — you wake up, your lashes are done, and you get on with your day. For guests who normally spend time on mascara or a lash curler every morning, the cumulative time saving over six to eight weeks is more noticeable than people expect.
A lash lift works best on natural lashes that have reasonable length and condition. If your lashes are very short or sparse, extensions will give a more dramatic result. If you’re not sure which is more appropriate for your lashes, WhatsApp us a close-up photo and we’ll tell you honestly.
What's the difference between a lash lift and lash extensions?
They produce related but fundamentally different results and suit different people for different reasons.
A lash lift uses your existing natural lashes as the raw material — the treatment curls and lifts them, making them look longer, more open and more defined without adding anything. The result is natural-looking by definition because you’re looking at your own lashes in a better position. Maintenance is nil beyond the 24-hour aftercare window. The effect fades gradually as new straight lashes grow in over six to eight weeks. Cost is lower, time in the chair is shorter, and there’s nothing to manage afterward.
Lash extensions add individual synthetic lashes bonded with semi-permanent adhesive to your natural lashes one at a time. The result can be as natural or as dramatic as the style you choose — Classic extensions are subtle, Volume extensions are transformative. Extensions give you length, volume and density that your natural lashes alone cannot produce. The trade-off is maintenance: as your natural lashes shed on their normal cycle, the extensions attached to them go with them. A fill every two to three weeks keeps the set looking full. You also need to be more careful about what touches your lashes — no oil-based products, no rubbing, sleeping on your back is better than your side.
The right choice depends on what your natural lashes are like and what result you want. Lash lift if your lashes have reasonable length and you want enhancement without commitment. Extensions if you want more than your natural lashes can give you.
Which lash extension style should I choose?
The five styles we offer produce genuinely different results and the choice matters more than most people realise before their first appointment. Here’s how to think through it.
Classic is the most natural-looking option — one extension per natural lash, creating a clean, defined flutter. If someone looks at your eyes after a Classic set and thinks your lashes just look exceptionally good rather than obviously extended, that’s the Classic effect working correctly. It’s the right starting point for first-time extension clients and the right permanent choice for anyone who wants a polished everyday look without it being the first thing people notice.
Wet Look takes the Classic technique and applies it in a way that creates a spiked, glossy appearance — as if the lashes have just been brushed through with a conditioning serum. The result is more editorial and more striking than Classic without being as full as Volume. Good for clients who want something with more personality than Classic but aren’t ready for full drama.
Cat Eye places shorter extensions at the inner corner of the eye and longer ones toward the outer edge, creating the lifted, elongated effect associated with a winged liner look. If you normally draw a flicked liner every day because you like that eye shape, Cat Eye achieves the same result with no makeup. Flattering on most face shapes, particularly on almond and hooded eye shapes.
Dolly Eye is the inverse — longest extensions in the centre, shorter at the corners. The effect is wider, rounder, more open eyes. The right choice if you want your eyes to look bigger rather than longer.
Volume involves multiple very fine extensions fanned and bonded to each natural lash, creating a dense, soft, full look that’s categorically different from Classic. If you have sparse natural lashes, Volume fills in the gaps. If you want maximum impact, Volume is the answer. It’s the most dramatic style and the most requested by clients who have worn extensions before and know what they want.
If you’re still not sure, send a reference image on WhatsApp — a photo of the lash look you’re going for — and we’ll tell you exactly which style gets you there.
How long do lash extensions last?
A full set of lash extensions typically stays looking full for three to four weeks before a fill is noticeably needed. The limiting factor is the natural lash growth cycle, not the quality of the adhesive or application. Every natural lash is at a different stage of its growth cycle at any given time — some are new, some are mid-cycle, some are about to shed. When a natural lash sheds, the extension bonded to it goes with it. Over three to four weeks enough lashes have shed that the set starts to look patchy, which is when a fill restores it to full density.
A fill replaces the shed extensions rather than removing and reapplying the entire set — it’s a shorter appointment than the initial application and significantly cheaper. With regular fills every two to three weeks, a set can be maintained indefinitely.
How long your specific set looks full between fills depends on a few variables. Natural lash shedding rate varies by person — some clients get five weeks easily, others need a fill closer to two. Aftercare habits make a significant difference: oil-based products around the eye area break down the adhesive bond, rubbing or touching the lashes pulls them out prematurely, and sleeping face-down puts mechanical pressure on the set. Clients who are careful get more longevity out of their set.
For a holiday context: a fresh set applied at the start of a two-week trip will still look full when you leave. A set applied a week into a three-week trip will need a fill toward the end of the stay if you want to go home with a complete set. Plan accordingly.
Can I get lash extensions if I've never had them before?
Yes — the majority of first appointments are for clients who haven’t had extensions before. There’s nothing technically different about a first application versus a subsequent one, and no experience or preparation is required on your part beyond arriving with clean, makeup-free lashes.
The practical recommendation for first-time clients is to start with Classic extensions rather than jumping straight to Volume or a more dramatic style. Not because Classic is a lesser treatment, but because it gives you accurate information about how extensions feel to wear day-to-day before you commit to a more high-maintenance option. Some clients discover they love wearing extensions and immediately want to go fuller at their next appointment. Some discover they prefer the lower-maintenance lash lift. Starting with Classic means the decision is informed rather than guessed.
The initial application takes 90 minutes to two hours depending on the style. You lie still with your eyes closed while each extension is applied individually — most clients find it relaxing and a significant number fall asleep. There’s no discomfort during application when it’s done correctly. Afterward your eyes may feel slightly sensitive for an hour or two as they adjust to the new weight on the lashes — this is normal and passes quickly.
The only things to know before you arrive: come with completely clean lashes — no mascara, no eye makeup residue, no eye cream applied that morning. Remove contact lenses before the appointment. Don’t use an eyelash curler on the day. That preparation takes thirty seconds and makes the application significantly more effective.
How long does the eyebrow tattoo last?
Eyebrow tattoo at Have A Spar is semi-permanent, which means the pigment fades gradually over time rather than being permanent in the way a body tattoo is. The realistic duration is one to two years, with significant variation depending on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare.
Skin type is the most important variable. Oily skin has a higher natural exfoliation rate, which accelerates the fading of superficial pigment — clients with oily skin typically see more fading by the twelve-month mark and benefit from a touch-up earlier. Dry skin retains pigment longer and may stay looking full for closer to two years. Combination skin falls somewhere in between depending on the specific brow area.
Sun exposure is the second major factor. UV light breaks down the pigment molecules in the skin over time, which is why any semi-permanent pigment fades faster on clients who spend a lot of time in direct sun without SPF protection over the brow area. This is particularly relevant for clients based in tropical climates or who take frequent sun holidays. Applying SPF over the brow area as part of daily routine significantly extends the life of the treatment.
The fading process is gradual and predictable — the colour softens and lightens rather than disappearing in patches or changing tone dramatically. Most clients find that the brows look their best in the period between one month and twelve months post-treatment, after the initial healing phase has settled and before significant fading has occurred. A touch-up at twelve to eighteen months restores the colour and shape to full intensity.
The shape agreed before the treatment begins is what’s applied — the therapist draws the proposed shape first for approval before any pigment is used. Changes to the shape at a later date can be made at a touch-up appointment.
Is eyebrow tattoo painful?
The honest answer is that there is some discomfort, but the level of discomfort is consistently lower than clients expect going in — particularly clients who are imagining the experience based on body tattooing, which is a significantly more intense process applied to deeper layers of skin.
Eyebrow tattoo uses a fine blade or needle to deposit pigment into the superficial layers of the skin in the brow area. The sensation is most accurately described as light scratching — a surface-level dragging feeling rather than the deep puncture sensation associated with body tattoo. The brow area is not a particularly sensitive zone compared to other areas of the face, which helps. Numbing cream is applied to the brow area before the treatment begins and allowed to take effect before the work starts — by the time the therapist begins, most clients report feeling very little beyond mild awareness that something is happening.
What does cause some clients more discomfort than expected is the area closest to the inner brow near the bridge of the nose, which tends to be slightly more sensitive than the body of the brow. The therapist works through this area quickly. The entire treatment typically takes 90 minutes to two hours including the numbing and shape-mapping stages — the active tattooing portion is a fraction of that total time.
Post-treatment there’s typically some redness and mild sensitivity in the brow area for 24 to 48 hours, comparable to mild sunburn. The brows will appear darker and more defined immediately after treatment than the final healed result — the pigment settles and softens over the four weeks of the healing process. The final result is visible at four to six weeks post-treatment.
What's the difference between Eyebrow Tattoo Light and Full?
The distinction is about how much natural brow you’re starting with and how much of the final result the pigment needs to create versus enhance.
Eyebrow Tattoo Light uses fine hair-stroke pigment — individual strokes that mimic the appearance of natural brow hairs — to fill in gaps, add definition and improve the shape of existing brows. The technique is sometimes called microblading or hair-stroke brow tattoo. The result is a brow that looks like a better version of your natural brow: the same general shape, the same general colour, but fuller, more defined and more evenly shaped. It’s not immediately obvious that the brows have been tattooed — they look well-groomed and naturally full rather than drawn on. This is the right treatment if you have brows that are reasonably present but patchy, uneven, slightly thin, or require daily pencilling to look the way you want them to.
Eyebrow Tattoo Full is a more complete reconstruction of the brow shape and density using pigment. It’s designed for clients with very sparse brows, overplucked brows, naturally thin brows, or brows that have thinned significantly over time. The technique involves more pigment application and typically a fuller, more defined result. It is possible to achieve a natural-looking result with the Full treatment — the shape and density are agreed with the therapist before any work begins, and the treatment can be calibrated to be as bold or as subtle as the client wants within the limits of what the brow area can support.
Both treatments are applied with the same care and the same shape-mapping process. The difference is in the amount of work done, which is reflected in the price difference. If you’re not certain which is appropriate for your brows, send a photo on WhatsApp before booking.
Do lash or brow treatments need to be booked ahead?
Yes — advance booking is required for all lash and brow treatments. This is not a policy designed to be inconvenient; it’s a practical requirement of how these treatments work.
Lash extensions take 90 minutes to two hours for an initial set. A lash lift takes 45 to 60 minutes. Eyebrow tattoo takes 90 minutes to two hours including the numbing and mapping stages. These are not treatments that can be slotted in between massage appointments on short notice — the therapist needs to be available for a dedicated block of time, the treatment room needs to be set up appropriately, and for eyebrow tattoo, the numbing cream needs to be applied and allowed to take effect before the treatment begins.
The fastest way to book is WhatsApp — message us with the treatment you want, your preferred date and time, and we’ll confirm availability and hold the appointment. If you’re planning lash or brow treatments as part of a trip to Koh Samui, booking before you arrive rather than after is the better approach. High season (December through April) fills the appointment book quickly and last-minute availability for lash and brow treatments is limited.
For fills on an existing set, the same booking requirement applies. If you know when you’re going to need a fill based on when your set was applied, booking that appointment in advance rather than waiting until the set looks patchy is the right call.
What should I do to prepare for lash extensions?
Preparation for lash extension appointments is straightforward but important — arriving correctly prepared makes the application cleaner, faster and longer-lasting.
The most important requirement is clean lashes. Arrive with no mascara, no eyeliner, no eyeshadow residue, and no eye cream or serum applied around the eye area. Makeup and product residue create a barrier between the extension adhesive and the natural lash — even small amounts of residue affect the bond quality and reduce how long the set holds. If you wear makeup daily, remove it thoroughly the night before and don’t apply anything around the eye area on the morning of the appointment. If you use an oil-based makeup remover, make sure it’s fully rinsed off — oil residue is particularly problematic for adhesive bonding.
Remove contact lenses before arriving. Lenses cannot be worn during the application — your eyes will be closed for 90 minutes to two hours and the adhesive fumes are mild but present. Bring your glasses or arrange to be collected after the appointment if you can’t comfortably navigate without lenses.
Don’t use an eyelash curler on the appointment day. Curlers put mechanical stress on the lash at the point where the extension will be bonded, which weakens the bond.
If you use a retinol or retinoid product around your eye area, pause use for 48 hours before the appointment — these ingredients accelerate skin cell turnover and can affect adhesive performance.
Arrive on time. A 90-minute to two-hour appointment that starts late creates pressure on both the therapist and the result. If you’re running late, WhatsApp ahead — we’ll do what we can, but the appointment may need to be rescheduled if the delay is significant.
Can I wear mascara with lash extensions?
In short: you don’t need to, and applying it incorrectly will damage your set and shorten how long it lasts.
The point of lash extensions is that your lashes look full, dark and defined without mascara. A well-applied set — particularly Wet Look or Volume — produces a result that mascara cannot improve on. Most clients who have worn extensions before stop using mascara on their lashes entirely and find they don’t miss it. If you find yourself reaching for mascara on top of a full set, it may be worth considering whether the style you’ve chosen is dramatic enough for what you’re after.
If you do want to use mascara — for example on days where you want to go beyond your everyday extension look — the rules are specific and non-negotiable. Use only water-based mascara, never oil-based. Oil breaks down the cyanoacrylate adhesive used in lash extensions, causing the bonds to weaken and extensions to fall out prematurely. Even a small amount of oil-based product applied repeatedly will noticeably shorten the life of your set.
Apply mascara to the tips of the extensions only — never at the roots where the bond sits. Applying mascara at the base of the lashes coats the bond with product, weakens it over time, and makes the extensions significantly harder to remove cleanly at your next fill without pulling on the natural lash.
Never use a lash curler on extensions. The mechanical pressure crushes the bond and will pull extensions out.
Remove mascara with a water-based remover applied gently with a cotton bud to the tips only — never rubbing or pulling across the lash line. Aggressive removal is one of the most common causes of premature lash shedding and natural lash damage in extension wearers.
